TATA IPL 2025 auction today
This article covers the Tata IPL 2025 auction held today in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Venkatesh Iyer has become the talk of the town as KKR retained him for 23.75 crore. Legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is back to CSK, his home team, after two seasons at Rajasthan Royals for 9.75 crore. The list below explores all selected players in the auction today.
CSK
CSK has become successful at their core players of the last year after retaining Devon Convoy at 6.50 crore and Rachin Ravindra at a price of just 4 crores. So, after purchasing Ravi Chandran Ashwin and Noor Ahmed (10 crores), CSK strengthened their playing 11, with most of the existing players purchased at the auction today. Vijay Shankar also went to CSK at an affordable price of just 1.20 crores. They also purchased Rahul Tripathi for 3.4 crores to strengthen their batting with Indian experienced batters.
KKR
IPL 2024 champion KKR retained Venkatesh Iyer at the high price of 23.75 crores, which seems excessive and desperate after losing Shreyas Iyer on the auction table with Punjab Kings. Angkrish Raghuvanshi is back to KKR at 3 crores alongside Rahmanullah Gurbaz at a base price of 2 crores. KKR purchased the spinner Mayank Markande at a base price 30 of lakhs and was also successful in retaining fast bowler Vaibhav Arora at 1.80 crores. Quinton De Cock went to KKR for just 3.6 crore which gave them an open and wicket-keeping option.
Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings acquired Glenn Maxwell for ₹4.20 crores and Marcus Stoinis for ₹11 crores, solidifying their core group with players Arshdeep and Shreyas for this season of IPL 2025. Additionally, they successfully retained spinner Harpreet Brar for just ₹1.50 crores. The team also signed wicketkeeper-batsman Vishnu Vinod for ₹95 lakhs, along with former RCB fast bowler Vyshak Vijay Kumar for ₹1.80 crores and Yash Thakur for ₹1.60 crores. Earlier Shreyas Iyer (26.75 cr) and Yuzi Chahal (18 cr) remain their big shopping today.
Mumbai Indian
MI has purchased continuously considering their squad needs and went for Trent Bolt at 12.5 crores. MI used RTM to keep Naman Dhir at 5.25 crores. After retaining their big stars before auctions, MI has scope to get their last season players like Tim David or Gerald Coetzee as pace allrounders or have a spinner like Washington Sundar.
Gujarat Titans
The Gujarat Titans have acquired Jos Buttler from the Rajasthan Royals for ₹15.75 crores. The team needs a wicketkeeper and a fiery opener. Manav Suthar was purchased at a base price of ₹30 lakhs. Experienced lower-order batsman Mahipal Lomror was also signed for ₹1.70 crores. Additionally, Indian pace bowler Prasidh Krishna joined the Gujarat Titans for ₹9.50 crores. Mohammad Siraj was the precious buy from GT for 12.25 crores.
SRH
Ishan Kishan went to SRH for 11.25 crores as wicketkeeper-batsman. Simarjeet Singh purchased at 1.50 crores from SRH today’s auction. SRH also purchased former GT player Abhinav Manohar for 3.20 crores. Earlier SRH purchased M Shami at 10 crores and Harshal Patel at 8 crores. Another value-for-money purchase from SRH was Australian spinner Adam Zampa at 2.40 crores.
RCB
Suyash Sharma was purchased for 2.60 crores, while Rasikh Salam Dar was acquired for 6 crores by RCB. Josh Hazlewood was signed for 12.50 crores, and England batter Phil Salt was bought for 11.50 crores, also to RCB.
Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals (RR) has acquired Akash Madhwal, who had a successful last season with Mumbai Indians (MI), for just 1.20 crores. Kumar Kartikeya was purchased at the base price of 30 lakhs. RR also had success in signing Jofra Archer as their lead pacer for 12.50 crores. Additionally, they secured Maheesh Theekshana for 4.40 crores and spin all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga for 5.25 crores.
LSG
LSG made the biggest purchase in the IPL auction by buying Rishabh Pant for 27 crores. They also acquired Aiden Markram for 2 crores and Mitchell Marsh for 3.4 crores. Additionally, LSG signed David Miller for 7.5 crores and backed Avesh Khan for 9.75 crores. Former SRH all-rounder Abdul Samad was brought in for 4.2 crores. The team also signed a fresh face, Aryan Juyal, for the base price of 30 lakhs.
Delhi Capitals
After acquiring KL Rahul for 14 crores and Mitchell Starc for 11.75 crores, Delhi Capitals also signed Harry Brook for 6.25 crores and T. Natarajan for 10.75 crores. Additionally, they made valuable acquisitions by picking up Sameer Rijvi for 95 lakhs and Ashutosh Sharma for 3.8 crores. By the end of the day, experienced medium-pacer Mohit Sharma was also purchased by DC for 2.2 crores.
