Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the IPL 2025 championship on June 3rd against the Punjab Kings, another title-less team in the Indian Premier League’s 18-year history. Virat Kohli (mentioned), the modern-day cricket legend over a decade, gave his youth and adulthood to the RCB team over 18 years of IPL.
Virat Kohli was very emotional and cried like a baby after winning the trophy in the final over of Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 finals at the Ahmedabad Stadium.

RCB became a finalist for the fourth time in 18 years and won a hard-fought game by 6 runs after playing a total of 286 IPL games. Punjab Kings tried hard till the last ball, and Shashank Singh hit 3 sixes and one 4 to score the required 29 runs in the final over, but fell short of 6 runs to win the title for Punjab Kings.
Scorecard: RCB 190/9 in 20 overs | PBKS 184/7 in 20 overs | IPL 2025 finals | Ahmedabad Stadium
RCB’s huge fan base celebrated after 18 years like never before worldwide, especially in Bengaluru and the Ahmedabad Stadium.
Punjab Kings reached the finals after 2014, and this 2025 IPL season was their second runner-up position.
Shreyas Iyer led Punjab Kings alongside coach Ricky Ponting. This was a successful campaign for Punjab as well, and the margin was just a sixer away from winning the title for the first time by the 18th season.
New finds for Indian Cricket from IPL 2025
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14 years of age, played first time in IPL history as the youngest cricketer, who also scored 252 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 206.55 as an opener for Rajasthan Royals. Vaibhav scored the fastest 35-ball century as an Indian player in the history of cricket, scoring 101 in just 38 balls against Gujarat Titans at Jaipur, and also hit a 57-run half-century against CSK at Delhi in this IPL 2025 season.

Ayush Mhatre, another young player, 17 years of age, played in IPL 2025 as CSK opener. Ayush scored 240 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 188.97. He scored 94 runs against RCB in just 48 balls.

Priyansh Arya, 23 years of age, found as a sensational opening batsman for Punjab Kings, scored 475 runs with one century, 103 in just 42 balls against CSK and two fifties against MI and KKR in this IPL 2025 season.

Ashwini Kumar, a left-hand pace bowler for the Mumbai Indians, took 11 wickets in 7 matches and a 4-24 best performance against KKR, helping MI to win by 8 wickets.

Sai Sudarshan scored 759 runs in 15 matches (Orange cap holder), and Karun Nair got the reward for their IPL performances and consistent form in domestic and T20 cricket, while getting a spot in the Indian squad for the test series in the England tour.

What was new in IPL 2025: Rules and policies?
- The Tata IPL governing council has brought new rules this year by allowing bowlers to use saliva, which was banned due to COVID. Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians bowlers found using this facility beautifully because of their experienced pace bowling attack, Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Arshad Khan, under the guidance of Ashish Nehra. While Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Bolt also used saliva to make the ball heavy from one side to get the reverse swing.
- Interestingly, the second ball rule brings out a game-changing effect while the bowling team can take a new ball in the dew situation during the 10-11 over in the second inning.
- DRS was extended to measure the no-ball as per the height of the batsman as a new facility, and offside wide ball.
- Moreover, the player’s bat was checked before going to the crease, and a few players’ bats changed, including Riyan Parag, Sunil Narnia, and Anrich Nortje in this IPL 2025 season.
- A demerit system and player suspension policy were introduced under the IPL code of conduct, which led to a 36-month ban for a player for bad conduct by a player during the IPL.
- A temporary replacement policy was introduced after the IPL extension because of the India-Pakistan war situation during Operations Sindoor.
The viewing experience of IPL was enhanced by using Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality by Jio Hotstar in mobile, OTT and television broadcasting. More interestingly, IPL has paid tribute to the Indian Armed Forces in the finals at Ahmedabad for the success of Operation Sindoor.
